Charles Thoms,

Charles W. Thoms, Sr., age 92, died July 21, 1999 in Port Orchard, WA.  He was born July 12, 1907 in New York City, N.Y. to Richard and Martha Thoms.  On August 2, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan he married Ellen D. Thoms.  He was in the Naval Reserves.  He worked for Detroit Edison for 19 years and then moved to Port Orchard, WA in 1945.  He then worked as a warehouseman and truck driver for lumber yards before retiring in the early 1970's.  He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Port Orchard Eagles for 43 years, the Moose Lodge, and was an avid square dancer at the Round Square Club.  He is survived by his sons Charles W. Thoms, Jr., of Ca., Richard A. Thoms, of Ca., Williams J. Thoms, of Ca.; daughters Mary Ellen Stratton of Seattle, WA., Martha Greenwood of Ca., Joan Heriot, of Port Orchard, WA., 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife Ellen Thoms in 1974.
