Cheryl Lynn Mannick, 72, passed away at Franciscan Hospice House, University Place, Washington on Jan. 31 from complications of multiple sclerosis.
She was born Sept. 25, 1946 in Bremerton to Shirley (Kamholtz) and James Reeves.
Cheryl graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1964 and Bremerton Business College in 1965. She worked as an accounts payable and accounts receivable bookkeeper for Bremer's Department Store until March 1966, when she married Joe Sherk and moved to Seattle to start a family.
She moved back to Port Orchard in 1974 and began a job as a Clerk Typist II for the Washington State Employment Security Department in Bremerton. She worked for the department until her retirement in 2006. Dennis accepted a promotion and came to Port Orchard in Feb. 1977.
On Valentines day 1981, she married Dennis Mannick in Port Orchard. Over the years, they enjoyed many "road trips" to Reno and the Oregon Coast, and regularly attended the monthly SK Class of '64 reunion luncheons.
Cheryl is survived by her husband Dennis and cat Annie of Port Orchard; son Neil Sherk and daughter Lynn Sherk, both of Seattle; sisters Marcia Parker of Bremerton and Bonnie Thorsen of Silverdale; sister-in-law Linda (Bill) Walsh of Grayland; aunt Maxine Winter of Kent; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, aunt Marjorie Roberts, lifelong best friend Joan Cowan, and former husband Joe Sherk.
She will be interred at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard. Memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Pacific Northwest Chapter.
