Christopher Robel Araya

Christopher Robel Araya was born on January 10, 1989, in Seattle, Washington, to Phyllis J. Cormack-Emigh and Eferem Araya. He was the second born of four children. Christopher grew up in Gig Harbor, Washington.

Christopher received his education at Key Peninsula North public schools. After high school Christopher went on to successfully, complete the Career Preparation Period at Angell Job Corps.

Christopher served in the US Army from 2010 to 2012. In November 2012, after serving his country faithfully, he returned to Gig Harbor and reunited with his stepfather, Vernell Hayes, his sister, Sarah Araya, and his brother Phillip Hayes.

Christopher was a person full of life and enjoyed every day the Lord was gracious enough to give him. Some of his greatest loves in life were reading books, writing short stories, eating double chocolate muffins, playing video games, and having debates with his stepfather.

On March 21, 2013, God called his child, Christopher Araya, to his heavenly home. Christopher leaves to cherish his memories a loving mother Phyllis J. Cormack-Emigh of Arcadia, Florida, and father Eferem Araya of Niagara Falls, New York, a devoted step father Vernell Hayes of Gig Harbor, two brothers; Jurell Hayes of Buffalo, New York and Phillip Hayes of Gig Harbor, Washington, and one sister Sarah Araya of Gig Harbor;a maternal grandmother, Gwendolyn Robins of Jackson Mississippi, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends living in Seattle, Buffalo and Eritrea, Africa.

Services will be held Thursday, March 28, 11AM, at Rill Tribute Center, 1151 Mitchell Ave, Port Orchard. Burial will be at Tahoma National Cemetery with full military honors. Online memorial at www.rill.com .
