Chuck Guynn Sr. of Grapeview passed away at the age of 71 on Saturday, June 30th at his home surrounded by the love of his family. Chuck was born on March 5th, 1936 in Cherokee Iowa, but a born Texan at heart. Chuck served in the United States Air Force for two terms and resigned as a Captain in 1963. Chuck had several miscellaneous forms of employment before spending 26 years as the Superintendent at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard. All the while through those years doing what he loved most, performing & playing country music in numerous bands as lead guitar and lead singer. Chuck retired from Sunset Lane in 1999 and moved to his beloved state of Texas. Chuck again returned to Washington in 2003 to be closer to family. Over the next 4 years he worked at Pierce County Security and Bremerton Lanes as a security officer. Chuck is survived by his loving wife Betty, of Grapeview; sons Chuck Jr. (Michelle) of Port Orchard, Joseph of Olympia, Phillip (Tina) of Olympia, and Step-son Allen Cooper (Brenda) of Port Orchard; daughters Nancy Boyatt (Rusty) of Spanaway, Tammy Richter of Spanaway and Kathy Harrison of Silverdale; sister Rena Goninan (Bob) of Oregon; 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and another on the way. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Guynn in 1968, daughter Yolanda Jo Herfel in 1988, mother Edna Combs in 2003 and daughter Carla Guynn in 2005. A Celebration of Chuck's Life will be held at 2PM, Friday at Rill's Life Tribute Center.
