Clarence was born in Moss, Mississippi on March 9, 1913 to Thomas Watts Davis and Lillian Lee (Walker) Davis. He passed away April 20, 2014.
Raised in rural Mississippi, Clarence served in the CCC before joining the Marines, serving in Hawaii and China in the 1930's. After discharge from the Marines, Clarence stayed in the west, working his way up the coast to meet up with his brother Tom in Port Orchard.
Clarence was eventually employed in the transportation shop at PSNS, transferring to the Naval Ammunition Depot before being drafted into the Army Air Corp.
While stationed in Spokane he met and married Ruby Julia Adkins in 1943. Shortly after his marriage he was shipped out to Iwo Jima, where he served as a Staff Sergeant till the end of the WWII.
Clarence returned to Kitsap County after his discharge, bringing his wife and daughter, Penny Adele, and returned to work at the Naval Ammunition Depot, retiring in 1978 from Bangor.
Clarence was preceded in death by his wife Ruby, and all 13 brothers and sisters, He is survived by his daughter, Penny (John) Sundahl; granddaughter, Lauren (Christopher) Garland; grandson, Ian (Jessica) Sundahl; great grandsons Christopher Garland, Myles Sundahl and Sullivan (Sully) Sundahl: great granddaughters, Gabrielle Garland, Chloe Garland, Paige Sundahl and Kaitlin Tisch: several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 28th. A memorial service will be held at Port Orchard United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 10th, at 11:00 AM.
