Clarence Knight

Clarence D. "Bud" Knight, 90 of Port Orchard, died in University Place, WA December 9, 2010.  He was born June 1, 1920 in Milton-Freewater, OR to Albert Ross & Clara Edith (Jones) Knight.  He graduated from Farmington HS in WA in 1938 and married Alta Torrey in January 1942 in Coeur d'Alene, ID.  She preceded him in death in 1999. Bud worked for 33 years in Quality Assurance at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1973.  He served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal from 1940 to 1942.  He loved hunting, fishing & camping with his children and friends.  He traveled extensively by motor home.  He was a member of the Methodist Church in Port Orchard. Surviving are sons Gary (Mary) Knight and Doug Knight, both of Gig Harbor; daughter Linda (Hank) Baker of Okanogan, WA; brothers-in-law Lyle Torpey of Enumclaw, WA & Robert Torpey of Berlin, MD; grandchildren Jeffrey, Kristin, Jennifer, Amy, Angela, Arlene & Scott; 17 great-grandchildren; and long time companion Alice Theroux. A Celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.
