Conni Jean Vlist

Conni Jean Vlist passed away on December 16, 2023 following a long battle with Parkinsons Disease. She was born in Coulee Dam, Washington on December 4, 1950 to Bob & Gladys Gilstrap.
She grew up in Poulsbo, Washington and graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1969. After studying Cosmetology, Conni began a career in the beauty industry spanning over 30 years where she built a successful business managing salons throughout the region. During this time she met and married the Love of her Life, Vaughn Vlist in 1996. They just celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in September. They were instantly attracted to one another because of their passion for Maxfield Parrish Art & Antiques and the fact that they each had dogs named Bart! They built a beautiful life in Port Orchard, Washington together with their Chocolate Labs Bart, Valor I, Valor II, Vander & Velony.
Family was very important to Conni. She loved spending time with her nieces & nephews and showering them with presents. Conni loved making jewelry and gardening. Later in life Conni worked for Compassionate Care and supervised parental visits with foster children. Conni & Vaughn are very active in their church, New Life and treasure their church family. Because of Conni’s immense faith in God she overcame many health challenges over the years. Her beloved husband Vaughn remained at her side through every moment of her health struggles and cared for her every need. Conni passed away at home very unexpectedly. She drifted off to sleep in her comfy warm bed, surrounded by beautiful Christmas trees with her dog Velony and loving husband at her side.
Conni was preceded in death by her niece Natasha Hill, parents Bob Gilstrap, Gladys McNabb & Archie Lien and her father-in-law Dick Vlist.
Conni is survived by her husband Vaughn Vlist, mother-in-law Shirley Vlist, Sisters Rosalind Crouch (Chuck), Nanci Lien (Jeff), Kimberly Washburn (Doug), Brothers-in-law Van Vlist (Terri), Vic Vlist (Kim), Richard Vlist, nieces Alisha Hill, Vanora Washburn, Chelsea Crouch, Chandler Crouch, Valori Vlist, Maggi Vlist, Alexa Vlist, Heidi Eidsvik-Vlist (Joseph) and nephews Donald Washburn, Vic Jr. Vlist, Kasey Vlist, great niece Addison Brady and great nephews Dakota Vlist, Avery Chrisman & Asher Eidsvik-Vlist.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Coffee Oasis (in Conni’s name) 837 4th Street, Bremerton, Washington 98337.
