Mr. Curtis D. Zard died of natural causes on August 22, 2001 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, Washington.Mr. Zard was born on July 23, 1924 in Alexandria,South Dakota to Russell and Marjorie (Gifford)Zard. He graduated from Onalaska High School, class of 1941, Onalaska, Washington.He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1942 until 1945,during World War II, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged after serving his country.Curtis Zard married Dove(Grose)-Peterson.Mr. Zard worked as a Hyster driver in the lumber industry for eighteen years. He then became a card dealer in Reno, Nevada for thirty five years.His major interests were fishing and playing cards.He is survived by his wife, Dove, of the family home in Port Orchard, Washington;Sons, Darrell Zard of Rochester, Washington; Curtis Zard Junior of Chehalis, Washington; daughters, Nola Clay of Ferndale, Washington; and Geraldine Flint of Mount Vernon, Washington. He had eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Gifford Zard.There will be a private gathering of family and friends to be scheduled at a later date in his memory.Arrangements are under direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home and Crematory.
