D. Jule Zumwalt, 67, died at her home in Port Orchard, Washington on June 2, 2007. She was born October 5, 1939 in Seattle, Washington to Dominic & Irene (Knight) Padovano. She married Robert Zumwalt on June 17, 1961 in Treasure Island, California. He now resides in Chappaqua, NY. Jule graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Speech Pathology & from Central Washington University with a Masters Degree in Aerospace Education. She worked for 36 years as an Aerospace Educator for the U.S. Air Force and Civil Air Patrol in California, Alabama, and Washington, retiring in 2006. She Instructed in air and space fundamentals for the U.S. Air Force and was Docent Coordinator, responsible for training 300-400 docents for the Museum of Flight in Seattle. She was responsible for 94,000 cadets and 1,400 instructors worldwide. Jule also conducted teacher workshops in aerosapce education world wide. She helped to establish aerospace education in schools and was exposed annually to thousands of educators and students in fostering aerospace/aviation education. Jule was a Lt. Col. with USAF Civil Patrol & was Secretary General for the World Aerospace Education Organization for 14 years. She belonged to the Western Aerospace Museum National Space Society, Air Force Association, California Aerospace Education Association, and was President of the Pony Express Lions Club in Pollock Pines California. Jule enjoyed spending quality time with her daughter Karin, architecture, interior design, gardening, her Siamese cat "Saki", & traveling to interesting locations. Surviving is daughter Karin (Eric) Von Marbod of Port Orchard. Memorial service 10:00 am June 11, 2007 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Inurnment at Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park in Seattle.
