David Peterson

March 2, 1915 — June 22, 2005

David Holmes Peterson, 90 of Bremerton, died at Harrison Memorial Hospital on June 22, 2005. He was born to John & Cora (Chambard) Peterson on March 2, 1915 in Cambridge, Minnesota. David married Irene Milbrandt in Seattle, Washington on July 1, 1977. David graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle, Washington in 1934. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1941 to 1952 on the Aircraft Carrier Wake Island during the second World War. He worked as a Machinist in Seattle and with the U.S. Navy until his retirement in 1980. David was an honorary lifetime member of the AYP (Alaska Yukon Pioneers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, bird watching, farming, and loved playing cribbage and pinochle. Following his retirement and with the help of his loving wife Irene, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of building a log home on the Olympic Peninsula. He and Irene traveled many states in the U.S. Surviving are his wife Irene; stepson Michael (Vicki) Boddy of Seattle; daughters Sandra Jean (Daniel) Forbes of Hansville, Washington, Susan (Ronald) Mobley of Fountain Hills, Arizona; step-daughters Sylvia Gillings of Eugene, Oregon and Nancy Boddy of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren Karl Sigel, Karena Prater, Darilyn Sigel, Michael Forbes; step-grandchildren Sarah Gillings, Mark Gillings, Matthew Lehde, Kathryn & Megan Boddy; great-grandchildren Owen & Loren Forbes, Karena Prater's infant due to be born on New Year's Eve; Michelle (Bill) Echols (youngest "Daughter"-surrogate). He was preceded in death by his first wife Lorena M. Peterson, two brothers, and two sisters. A Memorial Service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 1234 NE Riddell Road, Bremerton on June 27, 2005 at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice in memory of David H. Peterson.
