David Ritchie

Mr. David Glenn Ritchie, Age:53, died following a battle with cancer, at the family residence in Port Orchard, Washington on January 20, 2002.David was born on March 18, 1948 in Fresno, California to Ralph and Gerry(Lehman)Ritchie. He attended McLane High School in Fresno, graduating in 1966, attended Fresno State University and graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1998 through the Naval Submarine Base at Bangor.David served in the United States Navy and Navy Reserves from 1967 to 1990, retiring a Senior Chief Machinest's Mate. On February 13, 1988, David married Ann(Bulfinch)in Reno, Nevada. He worked for two years for Kaiser Aluminum in Tacoma, Washington, as a Training Consultant and with Code 1218 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton from 1979 until his retirement as a business manager in 1996. David was an avid Fly Fisherman, and an aspiring Nascar driver. He was a member of the Southworth Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.He is survived by his wife, Ann, of the family home; his parents, Ralph and Gerry of Fresno, California; a step-son, Krystof MacBryghde of Tollhouse, California; a daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Jeremy Jemmett of Fort Lewis, Washington; a sister, Cheryl Ann Kennedy of Clovis, California; and three grandchildren.A funeral service will be held in his honor on Thursday, January 24, 2002, at 1:00 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Mullenix in Port Orchard. President Leonard Anderson will be presiding as Bishop Darren Jones will Conduct. Committal will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington on Friday, January 25, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. with Military Honors provided by the U.S. Navy. Viewing is scheduled at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, on Wednesday, January 23, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.. A second viewing is scheduled at the L.D.S. Church on the day of the service, from 11:30 a.m., until 12:30 p.m.. A reception will follow the funeral service, at the church.Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Kitsap Unit, Post Office Box 2383, Bremerton, Washington 98310; or to L.D.S. Missionary Fund, c/o Bishop Darren Jones, 4749 S.E. Constitution Court, Port Orchard, Washington 98367.Arrangements are under direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home.
