David Wingard was born the 22nd of May, 1931 in Tacoma, WA to a Swedish immigrant
chicken farmer, Sigurd John Wingard & his wife Edna Christine. He was raised with
strong biblical values by his mother Edna, who the grandkids affectionately called
Grammy, surrounded by his siblings, Sigurd, Elsie, Gordon, and Wesley. The faith that
was instilled likely by Grammy at an early age stayed with him for his lifetime.
1931 was the beginning of the Great Depression. When David was 10 years old, Pearl
Harbor was bombed and World War II was taking place. David went on to proudly serve
in the Navy and was honorably discharged after serving his term.
David graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in engineering and for
many years worked at Boeing. He later joined the Naval Air Reserved and always had a
passion for flying and adventure.
He had a particular love for Israel and was known for continually studying Hebrew.
David was eternally optimistic which showed in his warm genuine smile and laughter.
He was always trusting and later in life took on many ventures that showed a promise
of serving others. His optimism lead him to take on almost every project that presented
itself, which could not have possibly been completed even if he lived as long as
Methuselah!
David had a way of encouraging and loving others that hopefully left a positive impact.
He is survived by his 5 children, Stephen David Wingard, Daniel Mark Wingard,
Shoshanna Dove Hilditch, Rebecca Joy Scarratt and Jack Cecil Wingard.
