Dean Allen Hammon , 64 of Gig Harbor, died peacefully on December 15, 2015 his beloved family by his side. Dean was born February 7, 1951, in Casper Wyoming, the oldest of three born to Roy and Mary Hammon. Dean moved from Wy. when he was 15 to Port Orchard, Wa. where he lived and went to school until graduating from South Kitsap High School in 1969. He continued his education attending Olympic College where he was on the honor roll, and finished his education by completing a 5 yr. apprenticeship for the Sprinkler Fitters trade that he was a part of. Dean held many job titles from working at Safeway bagging groceries, Gas station attendant, working in Purdy at the oyster co., Logging for Hart Brothers Logging, and as a Sprinkler Fitter and member of Local 699 Sprinkler Fitters Union, which he was a proud member. He retired in 2000 from an on the job injury. Dean was proud of all his jobs but his favorite was the years as a logger. He loved being in the woods. He had so many great memories of working with all of his friends logging. He spoke many times of his dream of being a Forest Ranger. Dean was such a handy man, he could build or fix anything. His mind was always working, trying to come up with ideas of how to build something or create something that would make life easier. He took great pride in all of his creations, especially if they helped him achieve his goal.
Dean loved all kinds of sports but his favorite by far was baseball. He had many proud memories of playing in Wyoming as a kid, and as the coach of many different teams as an adult. His most beloved times coaching were the years he coached his son Seann. Those memories he spoke of all the time.
In 1977 he met the love of his life Cindy and they married the following summer. August 12, 1978. They started their married life and their family in Port Orchard. In January 1982 their Son Seann was born, and 2 yrs. later they were blessed with their daughter Lindsey. They lived in Port Orchard until April of this year, when they left their home of 36 yrs. and moved into their dream home in Gig Harbor. Dean was so proud of their new home and property. He finally got a chance to full fill his dream of building a home.
In 2003 Dean started another stage of his life, he bought his first Harley, he and Cindy had many wonderful memories on the bike or as Dean called it "the Scooter". He was lucky enough to go Skydiving, go to Hawaii 3 times, Spring training in Arizona, NASCAR in Las Vegas, Alaska Fishing, into Mexico with his great buddies on their bikes, and he got to go sand railing on the dunes of Arizona. Dean and Cindy went on 3 helicopter rides, parasailing and on their 30th anniversary they went on a sunrise flight in a hot air balloon. Dean loved adventure so Cindy was always looking for something special for him to do on his birthday. 4 yrs. ago he went up in a glider for his birthday.....He loved it. With all of the adventures that he had his favorite thing was being with Cindy. Unless she was at work, they were always together. He cherished his family and friends and all of his pets. His animals all adored him and he felt the same about them. His favorite things were Fireworks, blowing things up, going shooting, working on his property, camping, fishing, and playing with his animals. When they died so did a part of Dean. For him being considered a tough guy, his animals turned him to mush.
In 2006 Dean and Cindy were blessed with the birth of their first grandchild Nolan. Seann and his wife Lindsey blessed them with 2 more in the following years, a granddaughter Addison and another grandson Brady. They were the apple of his eye. Although he didn't get to see them often, he cherished the times when they were together. In October of last year, their daughter Lindsey met the love of her life David Weiss and they will be married this August. Dean was so happy and was able to give his blessing about their marriage.
