Delores Estelle Barringer

July 10, 1928 — May 3, 2015

Dolores Estelle Barringer passed away at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton on May 3, 2015. Born July 10, 1928, as the youngest child to Charles and Sylvia Christine, Dolores was born in Emmett County, Iowa. She was the oldest of 3 children, Brothers Jerry of Indiana and Donald of Colorado. Later when in her teen’s, Dolores parents moved to Renton WA., where they lived for many years, before also moving to Port Orchard them self’s, prior to their death.
Dolores married the love of her life, Russell Otis Barringer July 14, 1946 in Renton Washington. Dolores and Russ’s anniversary was always Dolores favorite day of the year.
They also had three children Richard Lee, (Becky) Denny Glen, (Connie) and Cindy sue, (Donald Choate) in that order. At the time of her death Dolores had 10 grandchildren, and 26 Great grandchildren.
Dolores was always involved in PTA or whatever the kids were into, be it boy scouts, or track meets with the boys, or horses, with Cindysue.
And above all had homemade food on the table every night and a big pot of soup or stew and homemade bread. Just in case someone may stop by and boy did they, as she was a Great cook.
Russell owned “Red’s Texaco” down town port orchard; it was across from the T.B. & M grocery store where Dolores worked for a time. So they were never far away from each other. Russell and friends started working and racing stock cars at “Spanaway speedway” in the Tacoma area. So Dolores became a part of that as well driving in what was then called the “powder puff” races. Dolores and Russ were always a part of what the other one was doing.
Dolores started and ran “Fur, fin and Feathers” animal rescue group for many years, off old Clifton Rd. in Port Orchard. She also started and funded “Barringer spay and neuter clinic” in the same area. It was the only low cost spay and neuter clinic around, and one of the first of its kind. Dolores won Woman of the year for her work with animals and the building of the clinic. Her love for animals never stopped, she loved every animal she came in contact with and they seemed to be aware of it.
Dolores and Russ were members of the Eagles on Jackson ave. in Port Orchard, where they loved dancing to the music of “Eric and Company”, every Sunday afternoon.
Dolores and Russell moved to Stafford Suites on Tremont when Dolores was not able to do the things she used to do. And the staff there took very good care of her and Russell, from January 2014 till present, as Russell is still there.
Dolores was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, and brother Jerry.
Dolores was a Great wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. And will be missed dearly, but with fond memories, and never forgotten.
You are now at peace Mom, and we love you.
In lieu of flowers please give to the animal rescue of your choice in Dolores name.
