Delores Murphy

December 15, 1928 — August 30, 2010

On August 30, 2010 Delores Murphy, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother peacefully left this earth after having a wonderful chat with her hospice nurse about her family.  Her great-grandsons were always a favorite topic of conversation. She was born to Otto and Marion Brose in Freemont, Nebraska on December 15, 1928.  The large German family moved to Bemidji, Minnesota when she was a child and eventually settled in Port Orchard Washington, still surrounded by her extended family of parents, brothers, sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  She married Jerry (Gerald A.) Murphy and they had 3 children, Lawrence, Jeannette and Tom (Gerald T.) who still survive her. Delores, who liked to be called "Doe" spent her working years as an LPN and also did in-home day care.  She was a great fan of classic movies and loved to talk about all the old movies on the Turner Classic Movie channel.  Country music was also a favorite thing to listen to.  As you would suspect, she loved the older tunes and artists. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her parents, and brothers Dick (Richard), June (Otto, Jr.), Bill (William), Jinks (James) and a sister, Laura Lee,  who died in infancy.  She is survived by her sister Marjorie Fradet in Bemidji, Minnesota; her children, Lawrence of Snowflake, Arizona, Jeannette of Richland, Washington,  and Tom of Bremerton.  She also will be missed by her grandchildren Krissy, Erin, Amy, and Andy and her great-grandchildren James, Devan, Brett, Chris, and Cameron.  While she resided in Richland, Washington for the last few years, she always considered Port Orchard her home and that is where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jerry at Sunset Lane Cemetery.  There will be a Celebration of Life and Potluck meal at noon on Saturday, September 4th at the Adventure of Faith Church in Port Orchard.
