Dennis Jay Bard

November 13, 1957 — June 15, 2019

Dennis Jay Bard, 61, passed away June 15, 2019, well cared for and surrounded by his family. He was born November 13, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas. He spent his childhood in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, deep sea-fishing, duck hunting, earning his Eagle Scout and developing his love of the outdoors.

He was an avid bow hunter and outdoorsman, aficionado of epic mustaches, beards and sideburns, comic book and graphic novel enthusiast, petrified wood hunter and a life-long lover of Labrador Retrievers.

Nature was his church. He traveled the world with his wife, Rosa, and was an amateur historian. Children loved him; they recognized a kindred spirit in him. He was everyone’s favorite uncle, always finding the time to instill in them a love of graphic novels, mischief, and pranks designed to escape detection.

He worked for DCP Midstream in Texas for many years as a Corrosion Technician.
Dennis fought his battle with cancer bravely, and always with a positive outlook. He lived life fully and was at peace. He is preceded in death by his Retrievers, Tex, B.B., Ziggy and Dixie.

He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Rosario Bard, and his children, Jesse Diaz (Hannah), Monica Diaz, Holly Bard Stevens (Seth), Cody Bard (Becky), seven beautiful grandchildren; his parents, Roger and Beverly Bard; brother Dayton Bard and sister Diane Mull; countless nieces, nephews; and his faithful dog Zoe.

A memorial service will be held in Houston, TX on Saturday July 13, 2019 with details to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dennis’s name to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research at www.lustgarten.org
