Dennis J. Cressman, 65, of Port Orchard died May 8, 2016. He was born in Newport, Rhode Island. As a small boy his family moved to Bremerton and eventually to their home on Long Lake where Dennis lived out his life.
Dennis graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1968 and Western Washington University 1972 with a degree in Education. After graduating from WWU he worked at Frances Haddon Morgan Children’s Center where he had a natural gift of caring for special needs children. He then went on to work for Standard Life Insurance Company. Dennis was married for a time and had a daughter who he loved dearly. He was especially proud of the fact that she became a registered nurse and followed his same educational pursuits by getting her Masters in Education.
His favorite past-times were watching sports on TV, movies from his very large collection and spending time with family and friends. He loved tending his plants and especially loved his cat “Bones”.
He is survived by his daughter Lindsey Gearllach, brothers and sisters-in law Tom and Donna Cressman, and Gary and Robyn Cressman, as well as nieces; Selena, Emily, Sara, and Ashley, many cousins, and two very close friends, Holly and Watson. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Abbie Cressman.
The family will host a celebration of his life in the coming weeks and friends will be notified.
