Dennis E. Stitzer, 68 of Poulsbo, died Sunday June 26, 2011 at the Hospice Care Center in Bremerton. Dennis was born Nov. 2, 1942 in Seattle to Frank and Kathleen (Helvick) Stitzer. He graduated from North Kitsap H.S. and attended Grays Harbor and Olympic College. He married the former Lana Valentine Oct. 13, 1993 in Lake Tahoe, Nev. Dennis served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1961 to 1981. He retired as a Chief Boatswains Mate where he ran life boats, search and rescue and law enforcement. He received the Coast Guard Metal, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and many more. He served along the West Coast, Vietnam, and his last three year at Lake Tahoe, his favorite duty station. Dennis was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Poulsbo, WA. Survived by his wife Lana of Poulsbo, son, Paul of Oregon, daughters, Cherie (Doug) Krocker of Sequim, Renee Hattan of Issaquah, Denise Harris of Belgrade, MT, step daughters, Julie (Dave) Pearsall and Terry (Steve) Saenz of Port Orchard, brother, Randy Stitzer, sister, Jackie Brockman, 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Inurnment was a Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
