Dessima Weyer

August 11, 1916 — February 14, 2002

Dessima Lois(Sutton)Weyer, 85, of Port Orchard, Washington, died on February 14, 2002. She was born on August 11, 1916 to Daniel Huston Sutton & SaBina Thurza Ireland in Baker, Oregon. She grew up in Baker with eight siblings. It was there that she met the love of her life, her husband, Percy Albert Weyer. They married on December 18, 1933. They lived in Baker, Oregon and Nampa, Idaho most of their younger years, traveling wherever her husband, Percy, found work. Percy worked mostly on farms and ranches and Dess would work cooking for the ranch hands.Moving often kept Dess painting, wallpapering, and fixing up every home she lived in to make it a batter place to raise her family. Her love for gardening always produced a beautiful array of flowers around her home.Dess enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, and held a special place in her heart when it came to animals. Her fondness for children led to her collection and making of dolls. She shared many of her talents and love of dolls with family and friends. Her collection of dolls reached over a thousand; small, large, old and new.Dess' family is blessed by the time they shared with her, especially her cups of tea. All will surely miss her.Her husband, Percy, preceded Dess in death. Her four sons and two daughters survive her. Sons include Norman A. Weyer of Naples, Idaho; Marvin G. Weyer of Grandview, Washington; Jack R. Weyer of Goldendale, Washington; and Donald A. Weyer of Grand Coulee, Washington; daughters, Shirley A. Ross and Nancy L. Brotzel both of Port Orchard; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. The family will be sharing the Memorial Service for Dess with her husband, Percy Weyer, who passed October 10, 2000. The service will be held February 22, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. The Reverend Larry Mead will be officiating. A reception will follow at the chapel's hospitality room.Dessima and Percy's cremains will be taken to the Nampa, Idaho area at a later date by their daughter, Nancy(Weyer)Brotzel. All arrangements are under direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home and Crematory.
