Dionisia M. Arino 85, of Port Orchard and formerly of Olongapo City, Philippines, passed away on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2016.
Mamang as she was lovingly referred to was born on October 9, 1931 in Manila to Nicasio Malana of Marapipi, Leyte and Diega Malabanan of Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines. After graduating high school at Marapipi Elementary School, she went to Manila where she finished high school and took Liberal Arts at the University of Santo Tomas. She was active in sports, like volleyball, swimming, track and field, and baseball.
In October of 1946, Dionisia met Federico who was a working student attending Adamson University. Their friendship blossomed into love and became sweethearts. They affectionately called each other “Dar” and “Ling”. Mamang referring to Papang as “Dar” and Papang referring to Mamang as “Ling” for Darling. Their theme song was “Love is a Many Splendored Thing”.
She worked as an employee at the former Naval Supply Depot, Subic Naval Base, Philippines, performing clerical and receiving functions, until her migration in 1989 to the United States with Federico to join their daughter Lanie and son-in-law Ross.
Mamang loved to travel, go camping, eating out, playing cards and on her spare time enjoyed sewing and knitting. She was a very selfless, compassionate, loving and prayerful person. She enjoyed taking care of her children, grand children and great grand children.
Dionisia spent 60 wonderful years with the love of her life, Federico E. Arino, until October 2012, when he passed away. They are blessed with 5 children Federico Jr., Wilfredo, Almario, Yolanda, and Noli. 15 grandkids, Lei Andrea, Lloyd, Ahldeen, Jeffrey, Judith, Karen, Paul, Ailene, Angelene, Alelene, Janelle, Francisco, Michael, Rianna, and Zoren. 6 great grandkids Julius, Ivan, Jomer, Kirby, Ezekiel and Kurt. She has 4 siblings. Her sisters Virginia and Stella are deceased as well as her brother Antonio. Her only surviving brother Arturo lives in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mamang lived a full and meaningful life. She finished the race and is now at peace in the loving hands of God and reunited with the love of her life Papang.
We love you Mamang. Your memories will live in our hearts forever. Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean, we’ll miss you, until we meet again.
