Dolores Frances Grosz was born in Richardton, North Dakota, on August 13, 1935. She was the oldest of six children born to Harold and Eva Grosz. The family moved to Washington in 1940 and Dolores graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1953.
Dolores wanted to be a career girl and loved the big city so she worked in various positions in Seattle until the early 80’s when she found a position with Scott Wetzel Services in Bremerton, where she worked until retirement.
Dolores loved to dance, country and western music, train travel, shopping for clothes and jewelry and fine dining. Her friends affectionately called her Miss America because of her perfect grooming and style. She never had a hair out of place! She loved to spend time with friends and was a great conversationalist. She made everyone feel welcome.
Dolores had a very strong faith and was a long time member of the Lutheran Church. She lived a generous life supporting several children’s charities, especially St. Jude.
She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and the best friend anyone could wish for.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ardyce and brother Don. She is survived by brother Bill (Mary Ann) of Bremerton, sister Debby Holly (Tom), of Tucson, Arizona, brother Randy of Portland, Oregon and two nephews, Brian and Mark.
Unfortunately Dolores was diagnosed with Alzheimers’ in 2004. Throughout her illness she maintained a happy disposition and was loved by all for her smile. The family is grateful for the loving care provided by her caregivers at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation and by Dr. Sharman over the course of her illness.
Dolores was taken by the angels on the evening of January 25, 2017.
At her request there will be private services. Remembrances can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
