Dolores A. King

March 6, 1931 — April 30, 2021

Dolores King, 90, of Bremerton, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2021. She was born in North Dakota to Emil and Elizabeth Steinman on March 6, 1931. Her family moved to Bremerton in 1940.

As a youth Dolores enjoyed gardening and was a member of the South Brownsville 4-H club. Dolores graduated from Central Kitsap High school in 1949.

On September 24, 1955 she was married to William (Bill) King at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton. Together they raised their five children on a small farm in Port Orchard. Once all of the children started school, Dolores worked as a health aide for the Kitsap Health District until her retirement in 1986.

Dolores enjoyed traveling, spending time with the grandchildren, playing bingo, and watching the Seattle Mariners. She and Bill went on numerous cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean.

During the last ten years of her life Dolores resided at The Moore the Merrier assisted living home near Silverdale. The family would like to express our gratitude to her care takers Cheryl and Jim Moore for the kind and loving care that Dolores was given. We now consider Cheryl and Jim as part of our family.

Dolores is survived by her five children, sons David (Judy) of Everett, WA, Jim (Julie) of Toledo, WA, and Jerry of Port Orchard; daughters, Debbie (Edmund) of Norway and Kathy of Fairbanks, AK; brother David; sister Gloria; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William King; sisters Betty and Marion; and brothers Kenneth and Bernie.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Catholic Community Services at ccsww.org.

Memorial services will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard on Saturday, May 8th at 1pm.
