Donald Charles Erickson, 61, passed away peacefully on Dec. 17, 2012, at home in Port Orchard surrounded by family. He was born Jan. 27, 1951 to Donald (Bob) and Delores Erickson in Juneau, Alaska. Don graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1969. He joined the Army National Guard and served as a Tank Commander before retiring in 2011 as a Staff Sergeant. Don was working at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard just prior to his death; he retired Nov 30, 2012.
Don was a long time member of VFW Post 2669 where he held several positions. He enjoyed going to the ocean, throwing darts and playing billiards and was a big fan of crossword puzzles. More than anything Don loved spending time with his wide circle of friends.
Don was a member of a very close family and is survived by his mother Delores Erickson, three sisters: Dee (Keith Geisler) Erickson, Debbie (Rodney) Ward, Dorrie (Jeff) Fleming, and brother Darren (Pam Bilodeau) Erickson – all of Port Orchard; five nieces and nephews: Dionne Smith, Ian and Alec Fleming, Dalton and Emma Erickson; and great niece and nephew Ryan and Mackenzie Smith.
Please join us to celebrate Don’s life at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec 27, 2012 at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. A memorial web page can be accessed at
