Donald Joseph Firman, 76, died at his home in Port Orchard on March 30, 2009. He was born October 18, 1932 in Drain, Oregon to Richard & Gladys (Nowlin) Firman. He graduated from Sutherlin High School in Sutherlin, Oregon in 1950. He married Karen Buhl on June 16, 1958 in St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded him in death in 2006. Donald was a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1974 serving as a pilot. He flew KC-135 for SAC and RF-101 in Vietnam. He also worked as an Airline pilot for Saudia Airlines for 13 years. Donald enjoyed sailing and flying. He was a member of Elks Club, NRA, Air Force Association, and Colby United Methodist Church. Surviving are sons Joseph (Jean) Firman of Port Orchard and Richard (Denise) Firman of Covington, Washington; daughter Gail Porter of Olalla, Washington; sister Carol Krishnaswami of Boston, Massachusetts; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Dick & Dan and sisters Barbara, Rosemary & Pat. Memorial Service at Noon on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Colby United Methodist Church followed by a Graveside Service at 3:00 pm at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
