Don Lofthus, 67, died in Bremerton, Washington on October 26, 1999 after a long battle with cancer. He was born December 1, 1931 in Bremerton, Washington to Albert & Annie (Coldevin) Lofthus. He was raised in Belfair and Seattle, graduating from Lincoln High School in Seattle in 1950. He married Eileen Hourie in Seattle on May 30, 1975.Mr. Lofthus worked as a Route Drive for North End Distributing until his retirement in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1953. Don was a member of the Teamsters Union and the VFW Post 2554 in Shelton, Washington. Surviving are his wife; sons Robert Effrig of Duvall, Washington, Mark Effrig of Sacramento, California; daughters Diane Lofthus of Weston, Connecticut, Kathy Stevenson of Everett, Washington, Diane Lutovsky of Stanwood, Washington, Sharon Danger of Poulsbo, Washington, and Shelly Effrig of Seattle; mother Annie Lofthus of Seattle, Washington; sisters Barbara Belcourt, Shirley Thompson, Marlene Willard, and Pam Flotten, all of Seattle; 16 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Albert and son Daniel. Memorial services will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, Washington on November 2, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation in memory of Daniel Lofthus, PO Box C-5371, Seattle, WA 98105.
