Mr. Donald L. Porter died of natural causes on July 28, 2001 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington.Mr. Porter was born on June 2, 1950 to Bernadine Aretta (Lowery) and John Russell Porter in Christopher, Illinois. He graduated in 1968 from Springfield High School in Springfield, Illinois. He attended Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He also attendded Appalachian Bible College in Bradley, West Virginia.On October 13, 1979, Donald married Barbara A. Rexroad in Springfield, Illinois. He was a professional Chef throughout his career. He was last employed as an Institutional Chef at Sidney House Assisted Living in Port Orchard.Mr. Porter greatly enjoyed Gardening and Prayer. He was an active member of the Port Orchard Church of The Nazarene.Donald Porter is survived by his spouse, Barbara, of the family home in Port Orchard, Washington; his mother, Bernadine Porter of Springfield, Illinois; sons, Benjamin, Marshall, Justin, Aaron and Wade Porter of Port Orchard; daughters, Pamela and Rose Porter of Port Orchard; brother, John R. Porter Jr., of Riverton, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father, John Porter, in 1996.A memorial service is being held at Port Orchard Church of The Nazarene at 2 p.m., on Friday, 08-03-2001. Inurnment will be conducted privately for the family only at Sunset Lane Cemetery.Per the family's request, memorial donations in Mr. Porter's name may be made to Appalachian Bible College, P.O.Box ABC, Bradley, West Virginia, 25818.Arrangements are under the direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home & Crematory.
