Donald V. Shaw, 71, of Port Orchard, Washington died April 24, 2001 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington. Don was born November 18, 1929 in Portland, Oregon to Alfred & Mary A. (Parkin)Shaw.Donald was a 1st sergeant in the US Army from 1946 to 1970 he was involved in the Berlin Airlift. He then joined the reserves and was reactivated during the Korean Conflict. Don was in the Transportation Department at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until the early 1970's and then was a Bus Driver for the South Kitsap District until he retired in 1993. Don was a Volunteer Fireman and enjoyed bowling. Surviving are sons David Shaw of Port Orchard; Mark Shaw of Oak Ridge, Oregon and a step-son Kim Matthews of Portland, Oregon; daughters Cathy Tatham of Port Orchard; step-daughter Deni Lee of Kingston, Washington; sisters Erma Hicks of Port Orchard; Jo Cameron of Tacoma, Washington and Trudi Azzie of Patterson, N. Jersey; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.Don was preceded in death by his first wife Ladema (Niki) in 1992 and second wife Irene Morrison in 1999.A family graveside will be May 2, 2001 1:00pm at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard. Memorials may go to the American Diabetes Association.
