Donald Harold Van Ruth, age 80, died May 26, 2000 in Bremerton, WA. He was born May 11, 1920 in Nekooska, WI to Harold and Anna Van Ruth. Mr. Van Ruth was in the U.S. Army from 1940 - 1945. While in the U.S. Army, Mr. Van Ruth received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star. He achieved the rank of staff sergeant.He was a tavern owner for 35 years before retiring. Mr. Van Ruth enjoyed gardening. He was married to Dorothy (Collins) Van Ruth.He is survived by his sons Jim Van Ruth of Poulsbo, WA., John Van Ruth of Bremerton, WA., Joe Van Ruth of Bremerton, WA., daughters Judi Case of Bremerton, WA., Lisa Olson of Bremerton, WA., brother Art Van Ruth of Middleton, WI., sister Florence Roach of Wisconsin Rapids, WI., Bertha Behm of Wisconsin Rapids, WI., and 9 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in 1997, daughter Jackie Van Ruth, brothers and sisters Chester Van Ruth of Australia, Lernard Van Ruth of Wisconsin Rapids, WI., Wilfred Van Ruth of Derby, KS., Loretta Esser of Bremerton, WA., and Margaret Huston of Bremerton, WA.Visitation will be at Rill Chapel, May 31, 2000 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00p.m. Funeral services will be at Rill Chapel, May 31, 200 at 1:00 p.m. with interment following at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard, WA.
