Donna Moen

January 17, 1929 — June 7, 2010

Donna Arlene (Zimmerman) Moen, 81, died after a short illness on June 7, 2010 with her family at her bedside.  She was born on January 17, 1929 to Herman and Beatrice Zimmerman in Garrison, North Dakota.  She graduated from Garrison High School in 1946 as salutatorian, and from Minot Business College in 1947.  She married Henry Moen on November 23, 1947 in Minot, North Dakota.  They moved to Bremerton, Washington in 1951 and then to Port Orchard in 1958.  They divorced in 1979.  Donna worked 29½ years for the Kitsap County Cooperative Extension Service as an Administrative Assistant, retiring in 1993.  She was a member of Adventure of Faith Church in Port Orchard; a former member of Ladies of Elks in Bremerton, and was an active participant in the Rich Cove Beach Club.  Donna is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Ron) Stead of Olympia; her son, Gary (Jeannie) Moen of Seattle; three grandchildren, Chad Stead, Corissa Stead, and Amy Moen; sister-in-law, Marilyn Moen and life-long friend, Mavis Kalmbach of Bremerton.   She also is survived by her brother, Duane (Joanne) Zimmerman of Garrison, North Dakota, Glen “Pete” (Alma) Zimmerman of Duluth, Minnesota, and sister, Sharon Eslinger of Garrison, North Dakota.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers (Don and Gene Zimmerman).   Donna loved spending time with her family, watching PSNS and ferry traffic sail through Rich Passage, gardening, ballroom dancing, and the beautiful wildlife around her home.  A private graveside service will be held for immediate family.  There will be a gathering of family and friends to celebrate her life on July 31st.  Details to be announced at a later date.  The family requests any memorial donations be sent to Harrison Hospital Oncology Wing in Bremerton and/or the American Cancer Society.  Please sign Donna’s on-line guest book at www.rill.com .
