Donna Mae Smith
Age 61 of Port Orchard Washington, passed away at home Saturday December 6th from
COPD.
Donna was born August 17th 1953 to Eva Monaghan and Thomas Galivan in Tacoma
Washington.
Donna grew up in Tacoma Washington and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in
1967. Later she went on to Central Washington University and graduated with her Bachelor
degree in 1971. Donna married Norris Smith on September 21st 1986 and 3 years later they
settled down and bought their first house together in Port Orchard where they chose to create
many special memories. Donna worked with Catholic Community Services and later on to Child
Protective Services. She invested much of her time with the children and families in need. She
was very helpful and always strived to do what was best. Donna’s love and compassion was
her focus for bonding families together and maintaining safe environments. She loved nature,
taking walks in the woods with her husband, sleeping under the stars or enjoying the sun in her
backyard. Whenever deer came walking through she would sit and admire them. She loved
seeing how much the fawns had grown over the years. Donna would visit the River Place when
she wanted to get away and enjoy the land or take her girlfriends there for their annual Spring
Fling girls weekend where they would get into all kinds of mischief. She was most happy when
surrounded by all her girls, Vanessa, Marie and Haley, and treasured any time she spent with
the rest of her family members.
Donna is survived by her husband Norris Smith, daughters Vanessa Elliser and Marie
Zwiefelhofer, granddaughter Haley Jones and son-in-law Travis Zwiefelhofer, all of Port
Orchard. Brother Roy Miller and sister-in-law Elaine Miller. She loved her sister-in-laws and all
of her family dearly.
Donna is predeceased by Mother Eva Monaghan, Father Thomas Galivan, and Sister
Antoinette Galivan.
The graveside service will be held at Fraola Cemetery on Mullenix Road in Port Orchard
Washington on Saturday the 13th at 2pm. Gathering to follow.
