In Loving Memory of Donna Jean Virgillo

Donna Jean Virgillo, aged 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4th, 2024, with her
loved ones by her side. She was born on June 30th, 1944, at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica,
California, to John J. Lopez and Edith M. Hussung. Donna had an idyllic childhood, growing up
during the golden era of California in the 1950s, where she spent her days on the sun-kissed
beaches of Santa Monica and Venice.

In 1976, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she raised her family before
relocating in 1985 to Port Orchard, Washington. With a heart for helping others, she built a
decades-long career in healthcare. Donna worked in various roles, touching many lives before
retiring in 2009 as a ward secretary in the Progressive Care Unit at Harrison Memorial Hospital
in Bremerton.

As a mother to her three beloved children—Jan, Teri, and John—Donna was a devoted and
unwavering presence, offering her love and support through every chapter of their lives. Her
family was her pride and joy. She had a profound love for animals of every kind and cherished
several pets throughout her lifetime. Her beloved miniature dachshund, Mason, brought her
many years of happiness before crossing the rainbow bridge in 2022.

Donna was known for her sharp wit and playful sense of humor, which brightened the lives of
those around her. She loved reading, finding hours of joy in both fiction and nonfiction books.
Her curiosity and passion for learning were matched only by her love for building miniature
dollhouses, a hobby she devoted herself to for many years. Donna also dreamed of visiting
Africa, especially Egypt, a place that forever captured her heart and imagination. In her later
years, she delighted in following her granddaughter’s travel blog, sharing her adventures and
experiences from afar.

She is survived by her eldest daughter, Janice Porter (Donald); her daughter, Theresa Burroughs
(Eric); and her son, John Virgil (Kiyomi). She also left behind her granddaughter, Tracy Virgillo;
her grandson, David Porter; her nephew, Ryan Collins; and many treasured friends.

Following her final wishes, Donna will not have a formal service. She will be cremated, and her
remains will be lovingly scattered by her family in the Cedar Cove Scattering Garden at Sunset
Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard. All are welcome to visit the Scattering Garden to pay their
respects.

Donna will be remembered for her kindness, her love for her family, and the warmth she
brought to all who knew her. Her legacy will live on through her children, and she will be deeply
missed by all.
