Donnea Renee Canfield

June 29, 1953 — August 19, 2020

Donnea Renee Pries Canfield passed away at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, WA on August 19, 2020 at the age of 67.

Donnea was born in Chehalis, Washington on June 29, 1953 to Carl and Donna Pries of Mayfield, Washington. She resided in Port Orchard, Washington with her husband of 38 years, Gene Canfield. Before that, she resided in Silver Creek, Olympia, Port Hadlock and Olalla, all locations in Washington State. She attended schools in Mossyrock, WA and also attended Washington State University and Olympic College in Bremerton, WA.

When Donnea worked outside the home she began her employment with Yard Birds/Sunbirds in Chehalis and Olympia, Washington. She quit after she and Gene married After raising her children she went to work for Lowes. She retired in February 2020, after working 20 years at Lowe's in Bremerton, Washington.

First and foremost she was a wife and mother. She has 5 sons, who love her very much and who could always count on her support in any situation. She was also a second mother to many friends of her sons.

She had a heart for those who were struggling with addiction and it was not uncommon for her to see someone alongside the road in obvious need and stop and pray with them or buy them food and tell them that someone loves them. Sharing the love of Christ.

While in High School, Donnea belonged to The International Order of Rainbow for Girls. She also played Powder Puff football.

One of the fondest memories of her husband, Gene, is their first real date at Pizza Hut in Olympia after church. It took a few invites before she accepted and she always said that the first time she met me she knew she was going to marry me.

The family has too many fond memories to list here, but we believe this should be a shared experience. We ask that you share your memories, as well, on this on-line memorial. Please feel free to also share with the family, if you are able to attend the viewing noted below.

One of Donnea's favorite things to do was camping with her husband, sons, grandchildren and extended family of siblings, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The Rogue River in Oregon was her favorite place to set up camp to feel like home. And, of course hunting for agates was the #1 priority, along with playing in the river.

Donnea and her family spent a lot of time together to include holidays, outings to various nurseries and trips to various parts of the United States, You could always count on her to have loads of fun and laughs. She will be missed by everyone.

They enjoyed their RV and traveled around the southwest for the last couple of years. They also belonged to a camping club and spent a lot of time in Ocean Shores. She loved the sunsets.

One of her favorite things to do was sew and quilt. Each grandchild was presented with their very own quilt when born, which will be treasured for many years. She also enjoyed teaching the granddaughters to sew and teaching them to cook was coming along very nice. You could also count on Donnea to create some item for gatherings, such as tutus for her sister, niece, and daughters-in-laws on her 60th birthday trip to Leavenworth, Washington.

She was a very good cook (hence, 5 sons!) and you could always count on various appetizers, desserts, side dishes on the holidays. We need to mention her famous yeast rolls were to die for.

Donnea loved to garden, raise blueberries and create little niches in her yard with beautiful flowers and plants using a rainbow of vibrant colors.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Donna Pries and various aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband Gene Canfield, her sons: Tommy Fite, Jaymee Canfield, Seth Canfield (Jessica), Samuel Canfield, Michael Canfield, her Sister Carla Pries Reynolds, her Brother Jody Pries (Linda), 7 Grandchildren Kayliana, Ellie, Elijah, Tucker Parker, Makayla, and
