Doris Loraine Caldwell, 87 of Port Orchard, died May 15 of congestive heart failure. She was born November 24, 1920 at home in Webster, SD to William and Ethel (Schliesman) Davis. She graduated from Thomas Acquinos Academy in Tacoma WA in 1938 and received a BA in Education from Central WA University in Ellensberg in 1944. Doris married Lee Caldwell in 1943 in Bremerton, WA. Doris taught in South Kitsap School District. She was a member VFW Auxiliary, Altar Society, Birthday Club, Activets, PTA, Religious Ed Instructor all in South Kitsap; worked in the hospital auxiliary and St. Theresa's Guild. she enjoyed collecting dolls, gardening, photography and crocheting afghans. She was preceded in death by her brothers William 'Bud' and Duane Davis; and sister Joyce Stansberry. She is survived by her husband Lee; daughters Gaylynn Broga (Don) of Silverdale, Francine McKinley (Robert) of Belfair, Dorilee Shobert (David) Berry and Ellamae Dooley both of Port Orchard; brother Calvin Davis (Dolly) of Monroe and James Stansberry; sisters Marcella Kern of Monroe, Letta Mae Gatzke (Clarence) of Startup, WA and Ethlynn Quaranta (Vito); 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Rosary is Tuesday, May 20 at 7:00pm at Rill's Tribute Center; visitation is Tuesday and Wednesday noon to 5:00 pm. Funeral Mass at St Gabriel's Catholic Church, Friday May 23 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Building Fund, 1150 Mitchell Avenue, Port Orchard, WA 98366.
