Doris Ladely

In loving memory of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born in Wolverine, Michigan, February 11, 1907. She passed away peacefully February 6, 2002 in Silverdale, Washington six days before her 95th birthday.The second daughter of James and Kathryn Hulin, she was preceded in her passing by Jim Ladely, her loving husband of over fifty years, and her son, Mike(Pat Gallagher).For close to twenty years after Dad's retirement, they enjoyed touring the United States in their 5th wheeler, and being the people-person she was, she made many friends along the way. Mom loved arts and crafts and took up oil painting when she was 74. She painted for many years while they traveled, selling some of her canvas creations and enjoying every minute of it. After Dad's lpassing in 1991, she stayed in Port Orchard and started volunteering her time at South Kitsap County Helpline and as a caregiver at St. Gabriel Catholic Church at the age of 83. She spent the next ten years as a volunteer receiving many certificates and awards in the process. She has been featured in an article by The Sun Newspaper and honored along with other Kitsap County volunteer caregivers in a separate celebration in Bremerton.She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Gary of Sumber, Rob(Jeanne Ogle) of Bremerton, and Pat(Joe Gress) of Sequim. She was the grandmother of sixteen and great-grandmother of twenty three.A special thank you to the caregivers of the Oak Manor Adult Family Home where our mother spent the last months of her life. She was treated like family, and was afforded a quality of life she wouldn't have been able to find elsewhere.A memorial service will be held at the Unity Church of Bremerton at 1712 Trenton Avenue at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2002.
