Doris K. Miller, 79, died at her home in Long Branch, Washington on May 9, 2000. She was born in New Effington, South Dakota on December 8, 1920 to Peter Spethmann & Anna Anderson. Doris was raised in New Effington where she graduated from high school and attended Teachers College. She married Glen A. Miller on April 28, 1959 in Imperial Beach, California.Mrs. Miller was a Secretary for 10 years for the Area Agency of Aging for Kitsap County. She retired in 1986. She previously worked as a Secretary for the Senior Alert Newspaper in Port Orchard. Doris served in the National Guard during World War II in Sacramento, California. She was a member of the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary #2669 in Port Orchard and the Long Branch Improvement Club.Surviving are her husband; daughters Linda Ann Johnson of Columbia, North Carolina, Patricia Glass of Portland, Oregon, Kathy Courval of San Diego, California, Susan Vanderstall of Poway, California, Debi Rashak of San Diego, California and Dee Dee Crowder of Port Orchard; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Frank Spethmann.Visitation will be at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Friday, May 12, 2000 followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00pm.
