Dorothea “Dolly” Tomaras passed away from natural causes at age 98 on December 31, 2018, at Retsil Veterans Home. Dolly was born March 6, 1920, to Thomas and Ellen Carroll in Godstone, England. Her father served in the Royal Air Force, so her family moved to many different places when she was a child. Throughout her lifetime, she lived in or visited seven different countries. During WWII Dolly served in the Royal Air Force, working in the field of nursing. In 1944 she married her husband, William A. Tomaras, an American soldier stationed in England. Dolly joined her husband in America when the war ended and became a US citizen a few years later.
She is survived by her sons Gus (Shannon) and Randy (Sherry); sister Diana Bailey; grandchildren Tyler, Troy, Trevor, Jaclyn, Andy, Kenny, and Tara; and 12 great grandchildren. Dolly was preceded in death by her husband and a son, William A. Tomaras II.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 26, 2019, 11:00 am, at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, Washington.
