Dorothy Bayne

January 1, 1933 — May 21, 2023

Dorothy Bayne was born on January 1, 1933, in Whitehall, Montana, to George and Ada Butts. As she grew up, she embarked on various adventures, eventually finding her way to Sumner, Washington, and later settling in Bremerton. It was there that she completed her high school education and crossed paths with the love of her life, Thomas Bayne, with whom she shared 70 remarkable years. On September 12, 1951, they exchanged vows and began a journey of love and devotion.

Together, Dorothy and Thomas were blessed with the gift of five children: Randy, Terry, Tim, Ken, and Karol. As a dedicated mother, Dorothy found fulfillment in nurturing her family, by always providing unwavering support and boundless love.

Throughout her life, Dorothy discovered joy in the simple pleasures. She took pride in tending to her yard, cultivating a vibrant and inviting space. She stayed active through regular exercise and embraced a lifestyle that inspired those around her. Dorothy cheered on her children during their various sporting events, celebrating their achievements with a beaming smile. Family gatherings were cherished moments, where she could revel in the company of her ten adored grandchildren and sixteen precious great-grandchildren.

Dorothy's unwavering work ethic shone through in all aspects of her life. From cleaning newly constructed homes to lending a hand in the bustling kitchen of Peninsula High School, she tirelessly dedicated herself to serving others. Later, as a volunteer at Group Health's snack bar, she brightened the lives of patients and staff alike with her warm and caring nature. In 2001 Dorothy retired, concluding a lifelong journey of selfless service.

She was the absolute beacon of light in our family’s hearts keeping everyone together. She will always be missed.
