Dorothy Carroll, 78, of Port Orchard, WA, died December 19, 2001, at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale, WA.Dorothy was born February 19, 1923, in Seattle, WA, to Francis and Rose (Duffy) Behrle.She graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard in 1940. Dorothy then attended UCLA in Los Angeles, CA, where she worked on her undergraduate studies from 1940 to 1942. In 1974, Dorothy received a psychology degree from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. She then received her master's degree in psychology from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma in 1976. Dorothy continued on at Seattle University to further her education from 1979 to 1980.Dorothy married Matthew Okoniewski in 1944. They later divorced and Matthew died in 1996.Dorothy worked in many occupations including family therapist, chemical dependency specialist, teacher, and Federal Civil Service. She retired in 1996.Survivors include her two sons, Mike Okoniewski, of Philomath, OR, and Steve Okoniewski, of Green Bay, WI; brothers, Ernest Behrle, of Seabeck, WA, and Walter Behrle, of Talahassee, FL; sister, Frances Frederick, of Silverdale, WA; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 27, 2001, 11:30AM, at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. An inurnment service will follow at Sunset Lane Cemetery also in Port Orchard.Memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice.
