Dorothy Carter

January 19, 1923 — December 20, 2008

Dorothy F. Carter peacefully went home to be with our Lord on December 20, 2008 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.  She was born in Wheeler, Texas on January 19, 1923 and was preceded in death by her loving husband Earl E. Carter and her first grandson P. Brent Houghton Jr.  She is Survived by her sister Ann Paul, Sister -in-law Lavern Beasley and cousin Truman Beasley, children Linda (Phil) Houghton of Pflugerville, TX, Janice (Dennis) Leith of Belfair, Dick (Ginny) Carter of Holly, Wendy (Barney) Pierce of Covington, Doug (Wendy Jo) Carter of Vashon Is, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.  We will cherish her bright smile, love of life and the gifts she gave each of us.  She was an amazing mother, gramma, and great gramma and was loved by anyone who knew her.  Her passion and love for children will live on in generations to come.  She was a life long member of the First Christian Church in Port Orchard and loved to cook and always had enough for family and friends.  Her family will celebrate the truth that she is in heaven now and her body and mind are whole once again.   Memorial service will be 1:00 pm Saturday Jan. 3, 2009 at Family Worship Center in Gorst. Final Resting Place is Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard, Washington
