Dorothy Anne Lindquist

March 17, 1937 — April 25, 2021

Dorothy Lindquist, 84, of Port Orchard, WA passed away on April 25, 2021 after complications from a heart procedure.

She was born on March 17, 1937 to Hubert and Cornelia Hutchins, in Auburn, Georgia. After graduating from Winder Barrow High School, she attended Emory University. She met the love of her life, Don Lindquist in Georgia while he was there working on the Hartwell Dam. They married in 1959 and lived briefly in South Dakota before his work took him back to the San Francisco Bay Area. They raised their four children in San Mateo and Belmont, California and then followed three of their children to Washington state to be closer to nearly all of their grandchildren.

In addition to being a dedicated wife of 62 years, Dorothy was also very passionate about her hobbies. For her, there were two seasons in a year, gardening and quilting. Dorothy was an avid gardener and a member of the Master Gardeners of Kitsap County. When she was not in her greenhouse or in the yard she was inside working on a quilt. She was a member of the West Sound Quilters and helped to start many of the mini groups that still continue today. Her goal in life was to make so many quilts that she would lose track of how many she had made, and she did just that.

Another passion of hers was genealogical research of both her and Don’s families. She spent countless hours researching and documenting family history. This led to another membership in the Puget Sound Genealogical Society where she served as a volunteer in the library.

Dorothy was a very generous person who was always willing to lend a hand, always putting others before herself and as a result, touched many lives. She will be missed greatly.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Judy Phelps. She is survived by her husband Don, three children, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A family memorial will be held in her honor.
