Dorothy Mae Morrison was called home to heaven by her Lord on July 20, 2019 in Gig Harbor, Washington.
Born to Herbert and Leona (Downer) Pfeffer on July 6, 1929 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, her family moved to Washington in 1944 and settled in Port Orchard. Dorothy was baptized into the family of believers and confirmed her faith in the Lord on October 8, 1944, becoming a member of The Lutheran Mission, the predecessor of Bethany Lutheran, which would remain her church home for life.
While attending South Kitsap High School and working at True Value Grocery, she met Dale in 1945. Following her graduation in 1947, they were married on November 1st of that year. After a brief armed service deployment, they settled in Kitsap County in 1948.
Dorothy worked at several grocery retailers while raising four sons with Dale. She retired in the mid-1990's after working over three decades for Safeway. Her retirement with her husband allowed them to travel to destinations such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii. At home she enjoyed working in her garden, doing jigsaw puzzles, and watching Seattle Mariners baseball.
She was a constant supporter of her church and the Christian education provided by Bethany Lutheran. Her love for her Lord was exhibited in her service in multiple capacities at her church home.
Celebrating Dorothy's triumph are her husband Dale of Port Orchard, sister Harriett Pomerenk-Chase of Seattle, sister Shirley (Fred) Rhode of Minnesota, children Dennis (Dolores), of Port Orchard, Doug (Kathy) of Utah, David and Darrell of Port Orchard, grandchildren Krystal (James) Cochran, Darren (Marlana), Derek, Dan (Sarah), Dwaine (Bethany), David (Neichel) Morrison, Jennifer Tomko, great-grandchildren Xander, Emma, Timothy, Molly, Nicholas, Jackson, Elijah, Jacob, and Daxton.
