Douglas Robert Nabors, (Doug) born December 14, 1945, lost his 10 year battle with ALS on November 15, 2017. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, attacks the motor neurons in the brain stem which affects the muscles of the body. Anyone who knew Doug also knew that this disease did not stop him from enjoying life.
Doug was born Dec. 14, 1945 in Santa Monica, CA to Robert O. and Barbara M. (Bailey) Nabors. He attended Venice High, Santa Monica College and Cal. Poly Pomona. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Galveston. Doug retired from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard after 36 years. He was also the Music Minister for many years at the Storehouse Church in Poulsbo where he enjoyed playing his many musical instruments. Some of his favorite things include taking his family to Disneyland, listening to Jazz music, watching old western movies, Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello, It's a Wonderful Life and his all time favorite A Christmas Story. Those of you that knew Doug's sense of humor will be pleased to know that he expressed it until the very end.
He is survived by his wife Patricia A. Nabors (Tonnies), Daughters Jessica Page (Joe) and Stephanie DuPee (Jeff) and a son Kenneth Nabors. Grandchildren Isabella, Nathaniel, Douglas and Colby. His sister Linda Vawser (Dennis) and their children and grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son Douglas Andrew Nabors and his parents Robert Otto and Barbara Marie.
A memorial service will be held Saturday November 25th, 2017 at 1:00 PM at The Nazarene Church at 924 Sheridan Rd Bremerton, WA 98310.
