Earl Constant of Belfair, Washington died of cancer November 13, 2004 at Retsil Veteran's Home. He was 84. Born in colville to Charles E. and Alma F. Constant, he graduated from Mount Baker High School in Deming, in 1938 and later studied at Western Washington University. On August 29, 1941, he married Mary F. Edwards in Sumas. Mr. Constant served in the U.S. Army from July 1943 to November 1945, attaining the rank of sergeant. He went on to work as a welder for 45 years until his retirement in 1981. He loved music and was an accomplished musician, playing bass fiddle and bass guitar in in Dixieland and Big Band style groups. He also enjoyed his family, family camping trips, fishing and hunting and was affiliated with the Presbyterian faith. Mr. Constant was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Nelson. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ed Constant and his wife, Susie of Bellingham; three daughters, Judy Duffy and her husband, Dan, of Featherville, Idaho, Jan Maine and her husband, Mike, of Seattle and Debbie Losnegard and her husband, Kim, of Burien; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. November 27, 2004 at the Washington Veterans Home Chapel in Retsil with inurnment at 1 p.m. November 29 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent under the direction of Rill chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
