Earl Lagergren

July 27, 1912 — October 6, 2000

Earl E. Lagergren, 88 of Port Orchard, died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington on October 6, 2000. He was born on July 27, 1912 in Treadwell, Alaska to Andrew & Mollie (Vidlund) Lagergren. He graduated from Juneau High School in Juneau, Alaska in 1930 and University of Washington in Seattle in 1940. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi and an Engineering Phi-Beta-Kappa. Earl married Virginia Berg on August 21, 1941 in Seattle.Mr. Lagergren worked for 33 years as a Marine Engineer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. He retired in 1973. Earl was a member of the Port Orchard Yacht Club, Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and the Colby United Methodist Church.Surviving are his wife Virginia; sons Eric Lagergren of Port Orchard, Ed Lagergren of Porter, Washington, and Arne Lagergren of Seattle; daughter Jane Lagergren Kenney of Seattle; and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother Milton.Funeral Service is at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard on Saturday, October 14, 2000 at 2:00pm with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard. Memorial donations may be made to Colby United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 4299, South Coly, WA 98384.
