Edith Baldwin

June 20, 1911 — September 6, 2009

Edith Eleanor Baldwin, 98, of Federal Way, WA died Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Hallmark Manor Care Center.  She was born to Carl & Edith Rollen on June 20, 1911 in Minneapolis, MN.  After the early death of her mother, she was lovingly raised by her uncle Albert Erlandson, and two aunts, Marie and Lydia Erlandson in Willmar, Minnesota.  It was in Willmar that she met and later married Thayne Baldwin on August 19, 1933.  They were married for 64 years until Thayne's death in 1997.  Thayne & Edith lived in Montevideo, Crookston, and Duluth, MN until moving to Washington State in 1957.  They lived for a short time in Everett until moving to Burien in 1958.  Edith worked in the same jewelry store where Thayne worked until his retirement in 1972.  They were long time USO volunteers at SeaTac Airport. She was a 49 year member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in SeaTac. Edith was a loving wife and mother. Edith is survived by 3 children:  Enid (Robert) Coning of Kent, WA, Avis (William) Rill of Grapeview, WA, and Mark (Chris) Baldwin of Sunriver, OR; 6 grandchildren: Robyn (Robert) Schultz, Mary (Randall) Colts, Mark (Pamela) Rill, David (Lori) Rill, Lisa (Travis) Hale, and John Mark (Kelsey) Baldwin, and 9 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson.  She is also survived by a sister-in-law Geraldine Kennedy of Normandy Park, & 3 nieces and 2 nephews. A service celebrating Edith's life will be held Thursday, September 10, 3PM, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Graveside services will be Friday, September 11th at 10 AM at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard, WA.
