Edna Pierce

Edna M. Pierce, 98, died in Port Orchard, WA on December 18, 2007. She was born April 16, 1909 in Renton, WA to Edward P. & Mary (Sedlacek) Bassen. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Seattle, WA in 1927. Edna married Richard J. Pierce on May 30, 1942 in Seattle. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2007. Edna was a supervisor for work at home moms who typed insurance policies for the Homework Company in Seattle. She worked for 25 years, retiring in 1975. She loved car trips and traveling. She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Churc in Port Orchard and St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Seattle. Surviving are her son Stephen R. Pierce of Bremerton, WA; daughter Sheila Nelson of Seattle; brother Dan (Patty) Bassen of Port Orchard; sisters Agnes Mittet of Port Orchard, Clare (Joe) Zipp of San Leandro, CA, and Dori Babik of Gilbert, AZ; and granddaughter Christine Hower. She was preceded in death by brothers Jim & Frank Bassen and sister Marg Heeney. Visitation at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard from 3:00 to 7:00pm on Wednesday, December 26th with a Rosary following at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Seattle on Friday, December 28, 2007 at 11:00 am.
