Edna Van Soest, age 85, died March 31, 1999 in Port Orchard, Washington. She was born December 18, 1913 in McGargol, Texas to Gotthilf and Sophie Leischner. She was a member of Harper Evangelical Church. On March 7, 1968, she married Martin VanSoest in Federal Way. Survivors include her husband; a son, Leon Martinson of Spanaway; nine daughters, Diane Linder, Karen Weiss and Terry Taylor, all of Minnesota, Connie Hallis of San Diego, Calif., Kathy Anderson of Honolulu, Hawaii, Sharon Mullins and Eileen Podraza, both of Port Orchard, Lennie Anderson of Lakewood and Marlene Yurg of Gig Harbor; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jim Anderson. Visitation will be from 9a.m. to noon Saturday at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be at noon Monday, April 5, 1999 at Harper Evangelical Free Church. A private interment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
