Edwin Russell Butler, 80 of Bremerton went home to be with the Lord May 26, 2008. He was born January 26, 1928 in Modesto, California to Leslie & Flora Butler. He married Dottie Watland November 17, 1992 in Reno, Nevada. Edwin worked as a Journeyman Plumber/Pipefitter for 44 years in California and Washington, retiring in 1990. He served in the Army and Merchant Marines during World War II, earning the Victory Medal. Prior to his military service, he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in Sacramento, California. Ed was a member of the Eagles in Bremerton and was a Deacon in the Pentacostal Church of God in Modesto, California. He was an avid fisherman and loved to read, travel and play bingo. Surviving family are wife Dottie of Bremerton; son Raymond Butler of Tacoma; daughters Rachel Hunt of Tacoma, Renee Spencer of Chandler AZ, Jeanean (John) Warner of Goldendale; grandchildren Bruce Hunt, Diana Grimer, Richard Butler, Timmy Butler, and Randy Shelton; and great-grandchildren Michael, Jacob & Amanda Sparks. Also surviving are sisters Clara Terry, Florence Rhodes, Emma (Loren) White, sister-in-law Iris Butler, Ken & Cathy Butler, Bob & Claudia Grimes. He was preceded in death by his first wife Eleanor (Harmon), son Russell Gene, brother Fred, and sister Charlotte. Ed loved family & loved life. He loved to travel and while he lived in many places, he knew his final home was with Jesus. Welcome home, Ed. Inurnment at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
