Egon Hermanns died at home on January 10, 2008, following a two year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Altamae, three children, Kurt (Becky), Karl (Debbie) and Kris (Adam), seven grandchildren, a brother, Fred and sister, Sigrid. Egon was born 1926 in Switzerland and immigrated to this country 1930. He grew up in Newton, MA and enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He had many hours flying B-24's, B-29's, KC-97's and RC-121's. He retired from the Air Force 1966 and flew briefly for Lufthansa Airline. He joined Boeing - Flight Crew Training - 1968 as instructor flight engineer on 727's, 747's, 767's retiring in 1987. Egon was an enthusiastic sailor, skier and golfer. He leaves behind his family who loved him and learned by example the values of hard work, courage and humor. His family and friends will not forget his rough exterior but soft heart. Egon's ashes were interred at Tahoma National Cemetery on January 10, 2008, with his family in attendance. May the seas be calm and the wind at his back - bon voyage.
