Longtime Port Orchard resident, Eleanor M. May, 88, died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA on July 20, 2007. Eleanor was born on June 4, 1919 in Seattle, WA to Lars and May (Johnson) Hansen. She lived in Grandview, WA until she was 13 years old when the family moved to Harper, WA. She graduated from West Seattle High School in 1937. Eleanor met her husband, William Eldon May, at Walla Walla College and they were married on March 15, 1942 in Harper, WA. They were married for 58 years. Eleanor was an active member of the Port Orchard Seventh-day Adventist Church. She served her church in numerous capacities and will always be remembered for her cheerful smile and words of encouragement. She was a homemaker, a devoted mother, and had lived in her home for 65 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, writing letters, talking on the phone, camping and gardening. She leaves behind her son LeVern (Helen) May of Port Orchard; her granddaughters, Karin (Ned) Waltz of Boise, ID and Kristine (David) Coston of Melissa, TX, great-grandchildren, Melissa Russell, Ashley Coston, Megan Coston, Matthew Waltz and Nathan Waltz;, sisters, Margo Humphrey of Bellevue, WA, Millie Groce of Lake Forest Park, WA and Roy (Bonnie) Hansen of Bremerton, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon May, in Dec., 2000, infant daughter, Dorothy May, and her brother Lloyd Hansen. A funeral service will be held at the Port Orchard Seventh-day Adventist Church on Wed., July 25, 2007 at 1 p.m.
